Wayne Barnes makes two huge tackles in todays Premiership match

It's always a comical event whenever a referee gets a little too close to the action. Often we'll see the official toppling backwards after being caught up in a collision they had no right being in.

It was today in the top-of-the-table Premiership clash between Saracens and Sale Sharks at the StoneX Stadium that Wayne Barnes decided to get a little too involved.

First up Barnes was involved as part of a pod as he helped the Saracens' defence take down a rumbling McIntyre in a huge collision.

Having got quite the taste for the big hits, Barnes decided to even up the playing field in the second half by taking on Saracens' scrum half, Van Zyl.

The game ended 33-22 to Saracens in a thoroughly entertaining game, one that saw Alex Goode crowned the Player of the Match as well as becoming the most capped Saracens player of all time.
