Welsh international set to sign for Cardiff per reports

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Bristol Bears flyhalf Callum Sheedy is set to depart the Gallagher Premiership next season to join Cardiff.

The 28-year-old, who was born in the Welsh capital, will look to force his way back into Warren Gatland's thoughts on international selection. Currently sitting on 16 caps, Sheedy made his debut under former Welsh coach Wayne Pivac but hasn't played for his country since 2021.

Sheedy is currently sidelined with a knee injury and was not considered for Gatland's Six Nations squad.

His move back to Wales will ensure his eligibility when he returns from injury.

Had he opted to remain with Bristol or any other non-Welsh side, he would not have been eligible due to not meeting the Welsh Rugby eligibility laws, which state that a player must have 25 caps or more to play outside of Wales and remain eligible for the national team.

Per the Daily Mail's report, Sheedy's move is set to be officially confirmed in the coming weeks.
