After three rounds of Super Rugby Aotearoa, Will Jordan is proving to be yet another in the neverending queue of top-quality backs to turn out for the Crusaders. It was already hard enough for defences to contend with the likes of Sevu Reece and George Bridge. Jordan's form, however, has them near unstoppable.
His latest effort, a brilliant, two-try performance in sloppy Christchurch conditions, will no doubt have him on every selector's radar for national contention. How could it not? He's on fire with 12 tries in 14 matches. To many, he also appears to be the second coming of Ben Smith.
In fact, it appears the All Blacks have most certainly noticed, dedicating a "Next Generation" video to him based on this past weekend's performance.
His first try was set up nicely from Reece, as the latter snatched a high ball out of Damian McKenzie's grasp and sprinted away to then find Jordan for the opening try.
Just after halftime, Reece again set Jordan up with a quick lineout throw that sent the Crusaders fullback streaking down the touchline before the Chiefs knew what hit them. Those two scores proved to be the key difference as the Chiefs awoke and got things going late in the match. However, it was too little, too late.
It was the second solid outing for Jordan after he claimed Hyundai's Man of the Match against the Hurricanes in round 2.
Although he hasn't exactly come out of nowhere, what he's done thus far is nothing short of stellar and will have many fans thrilled about his prospects.
Both the Crusaders and Blues remain undefeated and will meet on July 11 for what will be billed as the most anticipated match of Aotearoa, thus far.
