Will Skelton finds loophole in laws to make bizarre-looking lineout steal

Former Wallaby lock Will Skelton made an unusual turnover while playing for La Rochelle in the Top 14 on Saturday.

The 6ft 8” Australian snuck around the back of a Stade Français lineout in the first half and used his height to intercept the ball as it was passed to the scrum half.

Stade Français had all but executed a lovely set piece but Marcos Kremer passed the ball from the top of the lineout straight into the arms of Skelton, who had advanced after the ball passed the five-metre line.

Unfortunately the giant second row wasn’t able to find a teammate with his pass but no doubt he will try and replicate this move going forward.

Skelton, 28, has earned 18 caps for Australia but joined La Rochelle from Saracens in 2020 having left Australia three years earlier.
