World Rugby Player Of The Year Shortlist Causing Major Debate Amongst Rugby Fans

World Rugby yesterday released their four-player shortlist for the prestigious “World Player Of The Year Award”.

Ireland lead the way with two nominees in the form of captain Jonathan Sexton who continues to defy father time and the immensely impressive Josh van der Flier.

Joining the Irish duo are Springbok superstar centre Lukhanyo Am who has been a model of consistency for the past three seasons.

Rounding out the list is reigning World Player Of The Year Antoine Dupont who has continued his run as the best scrumhalf in the game.

Whilst all four men are certainly deserving of their place on the list, many fans have felt a number of players have been unfortunate to miss out.

The most notable names being All Black star Ardie Savea and Bok legend Eben Etzebeth both of whom have been immense this season.

Such is the nature of these shortlists there was always going to be deserving players missing out.
