You can run but you can't hide from the Savea brothers

Waisake Naholo did extremely well to outpace Julian Savea when the Highlanders met the Hurricanes two weeks ago... before running into King Julian's brother Ardie.

A promising Canes attacks saw Julian kick ahead before Naholo gathered the ball and absolutely burned the (similarly) big winger in the dead ball area.

Naholo did well to escape from a dangerous position but what he didn't expect was to run into little Savea brother Ardie and get buried back five metres.

The Hurricanes went on to blitz the Highlanders 56-20 with Julian Savea getting on the scoresheet later on in the game. 

Big Julian is nailed on for a spot in New Zealand's World Cup squad, but do you think there's room for Waisake Naholo and Ardie too?

    May be hard to believe, given the way some decisions seem to go these days, but you are in fact still allowed to lift a bloke when you tackle him. You just need to ensure his safety.
    Also, I don't think feet 6-10 inches off the ground qualifies as a lifting tackle.

    I can see where you're coming from here, but seriously you are barking up the wrong tree.

    Explain how Ardie managed to legally drive Naholo back so far with Naholos feet off the ground then stay on his feet while Naholo was prone, all without any help or interference from others....

    You'll see the same tackle get a yellow in the world cup...

    Meh...I think in 30 years time the Muricans will have their own brand of 'rugby', with different rules, lots of time outs to facilitate advertising and it will only be played in the States so they will be world champions.

    I believe League and Union will continue to exist.

    Watch closely at 00:15 when Ardie gets hold of him... He drives him back, at about 16secs, you can see Ardie has hold of legs and the player is now horizontal, keep going and Ardie is on his feet and the player is on the deck...

    So he either drove him into the ground, or he dropped him, either one is an offence...

    I don't like making this into a bigger deal, this was just a 'dump tackle in the past,, so I apologise for doing so, just seems like inconsistencies to me...

    I beg to differ, looks to me like Ardies right elbow is twisted outward, which is sort of an indication that he is driving him...

    Of course I'm actually glad it wasn't pulled up, I would be interested to see other angles.. It just wouldn't surprise me if it was..

    Nar, not even close DrG. Perfectly reasonable tackle, even 'in this day and age'.
    He drove him back and Naholo stumbled over; he didn't lift, tip tor drive him into the turf.

    You wanna win Olympic sprints ?? , merge the renowned gene pool into your athletic programme, long distance gold is your aim ? You need East African endurance genes ... Blah blah

    Rugby??? Harness the somatype of the PI athlete , world collision sport is all prowling around the same supermarket looking to select the ripest peaches and plums , try imagining what world wide rugby will look like in 30 years , all players of a similar body shape occupying not dissimilar field positions rugby 'codeunified' or 'reunited' is my best guess, anyone who doesnt think we're heading there needs to open their other eye ( not directed at you stoudos)

    If you take their 1st XV to be the side that faced Wales in their last game, then a potential 2nd XV would be:

    B Franks, Mealamu, Faumina, Thrush, Luatua, Messam, A Savea, Vito, Perenara, Cruden, Jane, Nonu, Fekitoa, Ranger, Dagg.

    Which is just ridiculous for a second XV. Their second choice backs would start for almost any other international side.

    Almost got to the point now where they have so many amazing players they should be forced to make available to other teams any players that don't make it into the world cup squad.
